HELLO AND WELCOME! Here’s a bit about me…
In the announcer’s seat at the mighty MCG for Richmond v St Kilda, 2023
On the mic at the Hill Gate for 2023’s Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Jono Venn has been in and around the events space for over ten years.
Starting out small behind an audio desk and managing visuals for a handful of events early on, he’s since become a commentator and MC for many local sporting events including football and cricket finals, particularly in the Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL).
Jono began ground announcing in 2019 for an Aussie Rules event at Lakeside Stadium. A few years later, he volunteered at ETU Stadium as the announcer for Port Melbourne Football Club home matches and VFL finals, in season 2022.
In 2023, things started to take off as he debuted as Voice of the G for Round 14’s AFL match between Richmond and St Kilda, filled in as court announcer for Melbourne Tigers late in the NBL1 South season which then led to a new interest in basketball (and eventually new opportunities in said sport) and was behind the microphone in various forms for many EFNL Finals matches, including being the ground announcer for the Premier Grand Final epic between Vermont and Rowville.
Nowadays, you’ll also hear his voice at Marvel Stadium here and there, commentating on footy and of course, watching too much sport.
There’s more to the story, do you want to be a part of it?
